Psalm 100:4-5: “Enter His gates with thanksgiving, His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name; good indeed is the Lord, His mercy endures forever, His faithfulness lasts through every generation”
As we come to this day of giving thanks for the goodness of our God, let’s keep in mind the many ways He has shown us His love for his people. As I’m writing this, Molly and I are at 36,000 feet traveling to Seattle to see our two month old granddaughter, Esmeralda. In Spanish, her name is derived from the emerald stone, with its green hues and association with spring, it also symbolizes rebirth and new life. Our love for this little gem is profound. She has brought new life to our family. Oh, and I almost forgot, we also look forward to seeing our son, Steven, and his wife, Alex.
Now, where was I? Oh yes, new life. For all of God’s people, this is undoubtedly the greatest gift we will ever give thanks for. Through the miracle of the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit and the sacrificial life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, let’s give thanks that we will spend an eternity in heaven with Him.
As we come to the Thanksgiving Table, let’s also celebrate the gift of families, and the goodness of our God, as we look forward to the ultimate Thanksgiving Banquet that we will celebrate with our heavenly family for all eternity.
