July 4th Devotional: True Freedom
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” – John 8:36 (ESV)
As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, we give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. Yet, as believers, we’re reminded that our greatest freedom is not political—it is spiritual.
Through Jesus Christ, we are set free from sin, guilt, and fear. His sacrifice offers us a freedom no government can give and no enemy can take away.
This July 4th, while we honor those who have fought for our country’s liberty, let us also rejoice in the eternal freedom we have through Christ, and commit to living in that freedom for His glory.
Family Reflection Questions:
- What does true freedom in Christ mean to you personally?
- How can we show gratitude to God for our spiritual and national freedoms?
- What are some ways our family can use our freedom to serve others and glorify God?
A Prayer for the Nation:
Lord, thank You for the freedom we enjoy in this land. More than that, thank You for the freedom we have in Jesus. Help us to be faithful citizens of both this nation and Your Kingdom. Amen.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Terry B.
