And The Sun Stood Still
"And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, until the nation took vengeance on their enemies" Joshua 10:13
We all just get more done when we can see. Daylight inspires work, productivity and allows us to "make hay while the sun shines". The Israelites needed more daylight in the very first "daylight savings time" where God stayed the sun in the sky for about a whole day while the battle raged on. They were victorious, in part because of this miracle.
Daylight savings time moves the measure of time back and forth to extend our daylight. According to our clock that is. We know that there is no extension of actual time. Whatever perception of a longer day we have feels good though. We can extend into the evening the things we love, with the people we love, all with extended light and warmth. It's also a great opportunity to work later, if we must, with the benefit of daylight. God blesses us with the light we need to get the job done, grow the crops, and warm us in the summer months. This blessing of daylight falls upon everyone, the wicked and the righteous. I'm glad that because of the saving work Jesus did we can experience this blessing through eyes of faith, truly grateful for His provision of light.
Tomorrow marks the end of daylight savings for this year, we will set our clocks back and all be a little bit more rested for tomorrow. With that, may our worship be robust. May our learning and our love for each other be fully energized. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
