Yours is the Day
“Yours is the day, yours also the night; you have established the heavenly lights and the sun. You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter.” (Psalm 74:16-17.)
The Psalmist is crying out about the breadth of God’s power in forming the creation of all things. So, how hard is it for Him also to keep and defend his people? We know with the Psalmist that it’s not hard for Him at all. The Psalmist knew who ordered the seasons and everything else.
As far as seasons go, I’m so enjoying these sunny days. I can scarcely remember so many nice days in a row this early in the summer season. As the days unfold and the evenings come to a close, I am grateful that this revelation is rightly understood to occur by the hand of God. To understand that Jesus Christ is the Lord of it all, He was before all things, it was all created by Him, and “in Him all things hold together” (Col. 1:17) is way too much for me to take in. What a great mercy it is to know the Saviour.
I am thankful along with you today, that as I revel in these summer days, I can truly experience them through eyes of faith. It is the only way to be grateful and accurately process the source of their beauty and warmth. As we enjoy these days, may we continually remember Who orders them for our good. Thank you, Lord Jesus!
